  • Family first—no matter what

Our family is just like yours: We're just looking for the best way to take care of each other.

I told my husband after my second bout with cancer that if it ever came back, we should make the difficult decision not to treat it. We just couldn’t afford it. We had friends who have lost their homes because of the costs of cancer treatments, and I didn't want to put my family through that. But now, thanks to the Affordable Care Act, I won't have to make that choice.

  • In my eyes, Obamacare literally saved my life

I was able to stay on my parents insurance to get the care I needed.

I was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma in 2011, when I was 23 years old. Luckily, the Obamacare provision that allows children to stay on their parents insurance until they turn 26 had gone into effect one month before I would have aged off my parents' insurance—and two months before I was diagnosed.

  • What it's like to meet the President

    I didn't think I'd win either... until I did.

  • I found my golden ticket (well, platinum)

I was amazed by the plans on the new marketplace—and you could be too.

It's been a huge relief to know that I can now afford what I need to stay healthy, and to know that if anything happens I'm covered—all thanks to Obamacare. But getting here wasn't easy, and as anyone with a mental illness can tell you, it shouldn't ever have to be that hard.

  • What does health insurance mean to this 20-something?

Hint: It's the freedom to do what I want.

Taking a risk in business is one thing, but taking a risk with my health is not an option. Sure, my health will always be a factor in my life, but whose isn’t? The important thing is that it doesn’t define who I am, and it doesn’t dictate my choices. Because I’m covered, I can live the life I want to live, and that’s what matters.

  • Truth Team: It's time for a fact check

We can't afford to let a myth like this go unchallenged.

Fun fact: The latest member of Congress caught spreading myths about Obamacare is none other than the one chosen to give the Republican response to tonight's State of the Union address.

  • Watch Amy tell her health care story

Amy had a six-month lapse in coverage while treating a heart condition—but thanks to Obamacare, that won't ever happen again.

Last year, Amy was denied private health insurance coverage and lived in fear for six months. But now she's covered. Hear her story.

  • A health care story you need to hear

Before health care reform, Renee had to face cancer without the coverage she needed.

Now—thanks to the Affordable Care Act—Renee will have the peace of mind of knowing she can't be denied coverage, and she won't have to face limits on her care.

  • Every hard-working American deserves affordable care

    Read Holly's story of survival.

I'm a grateful mother, a loving daughter, a hard-working American, and a cancer survivor. The last three years of my life have been hard, and I know so many can relate. But now I feel so happy I could shout.
