Leadership Development

Lead a team of fellows

Leaders incite change. They take action to build the world they envision—while encouraging others to do the same. At OFA, we believe that any good leadership development can only happen when applied to real, complex problems.

Fellows Leaders

The OFA Community Engagement Fellowship is built to help new leaders develop their skills, while providing a meaningful experience for those looking to address the root challenges facing their community. OFA Fellows come from varied backgrounds and skill levels, but the fellowship serves as an entry point for those looking to take action and make a difference. This fellowship provides the tools and training to make real progress, and to ensure that diverse voices have a place in this movement. That’s where you come in.

OFA is seeking volunteers to lead and manage fellows—people who are passionate about developing new organizers and working to address difficult local challenges. OFA Fellows Leaders should also be excited to learn about and practice what leadership means, and to apply it to their group of fellows and beyond.

As an OFA Fellows Leader, you’ll work alongside your fellows as they identify challenges affecting their community. Together, you’ll develop an advocacy campaign to make progress on that issue. Ultimately, we are in this for the long haul: to create a more accessible and participatory democracy at all levels of government.

As part of this program, you will work with OFA staff to run the fellowship program in your community, and, at the same time, develop your leadership and management skills through meaningful, hands-on experience.

For six weeks, fellows will identify challenges affecting their community, and then develop an advocacy campaign to make measurable progress on that issue, focusing on a long-term approach towards change.
