Online Trainings

To make progress on the pressing issues we face today, organizers and advocates need the skills and training to turn a desire to change the status quo into meaningful and impactful civic action. But finding the time to attend a training in person can often mean time away from other everyday priorities. That’s why OFA offers online trainings—where you can develop your skills without leaving your home. Whether you’re looking for introductory-level skill building or something more advanced, we have a training series for you.

Relational Organizing

The theory is simple: Community organizing is about building relationships and using those relationships to bring people together around a common goal or cause. Relational Organizing is the practice of leaning on the relationships we already have to activate people we know to commit to vote. Watch two short videos to understand more about what relational organizing is, why it works, and how you can use it to make an impact in your community.

Effective Conversations

Research has shown that our country is becoming more politically polarized—it is increasingly difficult to find shared values even amongst our own neighbors and agree on how the United States should look in the future. That’s why it’s all the more imperative that organizers and activists have the skills they need to communicate across lines of difference to make real, progressive change in our country. OFA has designed a multi-part online series for volunteers to address this gap in understanding through their own local community organizing work. Three of those trainings are shown below and focus on sharpening skills in persuasion and communication.
