On an unquestionably autumn afternoon, 18,000 Wisconsinites braved the weather to see Barack Obama on the Summerfest grounds.
Before the president's remarks, the crowd was fired up with live local music and elected officials Mayor Tom Barrett, Senator Herb Kohl and U.S. Senates candidate Tammy Baldwin.
"I would've never thought I'd be able to say I opened for President Obama at Summerfest!"
President Obama took the stage, and addressed the important issues at hand:
"We are not Bears fans first or Packers fans first. We are Americans first."
President Obama discussed what was at stake this election for hard-working Wisconsinites and the clear contrast to our opponent. In response to some of the key issues of debate, it was clear what everyone needed to do:
Pres. Obama: "Don't boo—"
Entire crowd: "VOTE!"
The skies brought a little rain, but it didn’t dampen our spirits:
"I know we're getting a little wet, but that's okay! ...the sun is going to come out when all of us do our part!"
"I need you to make some calls for me, and knock some doors for me..."
"You're the reason there's a family in Green Bay that got a tax cut and can afford to spend a little more on groceries."
As the skies cleared up and the energy flooded the streets of Milwaukee, Wisconsinites were ready to get to work.
