In case you missed it – 2012 is here in the Mitten.

The call-and-response “fired up – ready to go!” chant was in full effect Thursday evening as nearly 200 Oakland County residents gathered in our new OFA office in downtown Pontiac. State Director Garrett Arwa, OFA Oakland County Regional Field Director Melissa Bernardi, Congressman Gary Peters (MI-9) and National Political Director Katherine Archuleta spoke to the importance of organizing our family, friends and neighbors in communities like Pontiac, Royal Oak, Birmingham and Southfield.

Neighborhood team leaders, digital leads and new volunteers swapped best practices for organizing, from utilizing social media to build momentum around events to registering voters.

Of course, Oakland County isn’t the only place organizing for 2012 – and from Grand Rapids to Detroit, we will be holding Day of Service voter registration drives in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s legacy. Can you join us? It’s not too late to RSVP – and click here to find the event near you. Bring a friend, and ensure that people all across Michigan have the opportunity to exercise their right to vote this November.
