"We need to spread the word on health care!"

This past Wednesday, over twenty women gathered in a living room in South Lansing to talk about what they all agreed is the most pressing issue going into the election – the Affordable Care Act.

The women welcomed Don H. of the non-partisan Michigan Consumers for Health Care to talk about the benefits of President Obama’s health care reform right here in the Mitten.

Pam O. of Mason came out to the event because the cost of her prescription drugs finally decreased this year.

“I enroll in Medicare this year and my medications currently cost me $700 a month. The Medicare Prescription Drug Plan will keep these costs down so I don’t have to struggle to make ends meet every day!”

Joyce G was motivated to work harder by the presentation.

“There’s so many of my friends and neighbors who simply don’t know about what’s in the Affordable Care Act – like the fact that women will no longer be discriminated against in 2014. Don’s presentation confirmed what many of us already knew – we need to spread the word on health care in our neighborhoods!”
