At watch parties in Columbia, Charleston and Lancaster, South Carolinians got the first look at the full documentary “The Road We’ve Traveled” by award-winning director Davis Guggenheim. Onlookers at our Columbia headquarters watched silently as they previewed the film, often nodding in agreement with the commentary and remembering the emotional journey of the last three years.

“The Road We’ve Traveled” is narrated by Tom Hanks and includes appearances by Vice President Joe Biden, First Lady Michelle Obama, former President Bill Clinton, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, consumer advocate Elizabeth Warren and others. The film puts into perspective the challenges our country faced when President Obama took office, the tough decisions he made in the face of those challenges, and the progress we’ve made in rebuilding an economy that’s meant to last and strengthening and securing our nation.

The 17-minute documentary isn’t just about the tough calls President Obama has made, or about how they’re paying off, but about why he made them and his fundamental belief in what America can be when we stand by the basic values that have made our country great.
