Read all about it: Action August is here

Organizing for Action volunteers held events nationwide this week to help inform their communities about the benefits of Obamacare, push for comprehensive immigration reform, and action on climate change. Action August is here in a big way.

* Organizing for North Carolina held an Obamacare forum at a local church where attendees learned more about coverage, costs and benefits under Obamacare. [New Bern Sun Journal, N.C.]

* In Charlotte, N.C, volunteers marked the President's birthday by educating the community about Obamacare. As OFA supporter Jonette Harper explained, "With a healthier nation we have a wealthier nation.” [NBC Charlotte]

* Organizing for Action Tennessee volunteers rallied to increase awareness on climate change in front of the offices of U.S. Rep. Scott DesJarlais (R-TN). [The Cleveland Daily Banner, Tenn.]

* OFA volunteers in Minnesota have put U.S. Reps. John Kline and Erik Paulsen on notice, pushing them to act on key issues in Action August. “We want to send a clear message to the House that these are issues that people are demanding action on,” said local supporter Blair Lawton. [Minnesota Star Tribune]

* Ohio supporters helped highlight that women in particular will benefit from Obamacare programs. "Women will no longer pay more in premiums to get less coverage," said Stephanie Kight of Planned Parenthood of Ohio. "Our medications, including our birth control, will be covered as part of preventive health care as it should always have been." [Ohio Public Radio]

This is just the beginning. OFA volunteers will be turning up the pressure on Congress all month long. It's not too late—be a part of this.
