Obama 2012 has Pride in West Michigan!

Grand Rapids- Since beginning his term almost two years ago, President Obama has mapped out a future for Americans that includes equality for the LGBT community. The President and his staff have proven their dedication to fighting discrimination. Already, the President has passed laws eliminating barriers to equality, fighting discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity, and engaging LGBT communities across the country.

At the West Michigan Pride event, the Obama 2012 booth was filled with excited members of the LGBT community who finally felt that they had a voice.

Volunteers got another opportunity to canvass and collect I’M IN cards. The summer organizers and volunteers were grateful for an ecstatic response from the attendees, filling out over 400 cards. We were also participating in the Voter Registration Day of Action at the event. Amy G., our registration focused organizer, was on hand to answer questions about criteria to vote, how to register those who have moved or are away at college, and other questions too.
