Nebraska Welcomes Our 2012 Spring Fellows

On Sunday, Obama for America in Nebraska welcomed our Spring Organizing Fellowship for training in Omaha.

The fellowship is a twelve week internship program that will train and develop the next generation of community organizers. These six Spring Fellows will help our movement expand its outreach in communities around the state.

OFA Nebraska Spring Fellow Jolene:

The reason I signed up for this program was because getting Obama re-elected affects me personally. His forward way of thinking is what made me initially sign up. I hope I too can empower others through this program just as much as he inspires me!-

The training, led by State Director Zack Burgin, covered information such as managing voter database systems, building neighborhood teams, recruiting volunteers, and sharing the story of the campaign.

Spring Fellow Aubrey:

The best part was feeling like I was really getting started working on the campaign.

The fellows will organize in three counties, Lancaster, Douglas and Sarpy and have experience ranging from working on campaigns for over a decade to never being involved before. One Spring Fellow, Maggie W., is a senior in high school and will be voting for the first time in 2012 for President Obama.
