Texas Day of Action, Memorial Day

On Memorial Day supporters from around the state gathered to participate in our Texas Day of Action. It was the largest day of action so far, with our volunteers making nearly 22,000 calls to build support for President Obama. In Southeast Houston, newfound friends and neighbors came together at a phone bank led by two Summer Fellows. The volunteers far exceeded their goals--making at least 88 phone calls each.

The phone bank welcomed both experienced and new volunteers. For one supporter, a nursing professor, this was her very first phone bank in support of President Obama. She explained that she had never attended a political event before, but when the opportunity arose to get involved over the holiday weekend, she was willing to give it a try. She’s a strong supporter of President Obama because of “his tenacity in the midst of a storm. It’s been an uphill battle, and he’s still pushing forward”.

We are also determined to keep pushing forward with the President. Texans have the tenacity and conviction to make a difference in this election. We are IN, are you IN?

Get involved this summer by checking out local events and spreading our message on Facebook at ‘Obama for America – TX’ and on Twitter at @OFA_TX
