Meet the Dream Team for immigration reform

OFA's amazing volunteers are fighting for immigration reform from coast to coast.

As part of OFA's strategy to single out congressional representatives who should be doing more to pass immigration reform, we’re building teams of volunteers dedicated to making sure their members of Congress understand that there is a cost to their inaction. We’re calling these teams the Dream Team.

These teams are made up of volunteers and volunteer leaders who have stepped up to lead the charge for immigration reform in their communities. They are committed, motivated, and doing amazing work.

Here's a look at just a few of the Dream Team members, and why this fight is so important to them:

Manu I. from Queens, New York, is an OFA Fall Fellow turned current Senior Fellow. He is organizing like crazy around a number of issues, including immigration reform. Here's what he has to say about why he's part of the Dream Team:

"Being a first generation American, I have first-hand knowledge of how immigrants can transform a community. My parents left India to come to America in the hopes of not just creating a better life for themselves, but for their fellow human beings.

"My story and my parents' story could only be possible in a country that opens its heart and mind to everyone who wants to make this world a better place. We must have an immigration policy that gives future generations the opportunity to inspire, to unite, and truly to change the world for the better."

Audrey E.’s personal connections and relationships are what drive her in the push for immigration reform. It began when she saw her mother, an Irish immigrant, apply for citizenship when she moved to Puerto Rico. Now, Audrey works every day to help members of her community in Waukesha County, Wisconsin, deal with our country's broken immigration system.

Dominick L.
is a chapter lead and Dream Team captain in House Speaker John Boehner's congressional district in Ohio. Dominick most recently helped put together an immigration reform training with special guest Eliseo Medina, of Fast 4 Families. The training brought together a diverse group of people who were pumped to take action, and they've already held events in the weeks that followed.

Eddie S.
is the OFA Virginia state immigration reform lead, as well as a chapter lead in southwest Virginia. For the last several years, Eddie has committed his life to working on progressive causes across Virginia. He believes we need to lift our communities up and give all of our neighbors an equal opportunity to achieve the American Dream.

Eddie frequently brings the fight for immigration reform—along with his Dream Team—to Representative Bob Goodlatte's district office. Eddie's team is determined to ensure that the congressman's constituents are heard on this issue.

The daughter of Mexican immigrants, Isabel C. has been practicing immigration law for nearly eight years, and first joined OFA during the 2013 Action August push for immigration reform. Since then, Isabel has taken the lead on keeping up pressure on Rep. Pete Sessions and other congressmen—she recently embarked on a series of small business canvasses to identify immigration reform advocates in North Texas. Take a look at what the Dream Team has been up to:

Today, immigration supporters across the country are thanking the Dream Team for the work they're doing in the fight for immigration reform. Take a minute and give them a shout out on Twitter—and check out the rest of the messages at #OFADreamTeam.
Thank the Dream Team
