Meet Mia R.: Ready to Knock out a Home Run for Nevada

For Mia R., the 2011 Summer Organizer program is a continuation of her commitment from the 2008 Campaign. As a Northern Californian native, she served as a chapter coordinator with University of California Santa Cruz (UCSC) Students for Barack Obama from 2007-2008. In fact, organizing is something that runs deep in her family. Her grandmother did such amazing things as working hand in hand with Cesar Chavez and becoming the first woman elected to the Oakland City Council!

As a student at UCSC she “thrived of the seemingly endless energy that the student population had for the campaign.”

As a summer organizer, she chose to come to Nevada because she understands the need to keep a battleground state like ours blue in the coming election.

Mia R., 2011 Summer Organizer
“I'm in because President Obama believes in the equal application of basic Constitutional rights to all people”.

We agree whole-heartedly Mia, and are glad a recent graduate of USCS is fired up and ready to get to work in Southern Nevada. When Mia isn’t organizing the Las Vegas area, she can usually be found watching her favorite team, the San Francisco Giants.
