Library Helps Bring Voice to the South Valley

By Astrid A.

NM Summer Organizer

Blazing hot outside but refreshingly cool inside, our team members canvassed a steady stream of people coming into the South Valley library to use the computers, check out summer reading, and enjoy the Summer Reading Program's Saturday activity of making Loteria cards. A number of people were happy to be reminded that they needed to re-register with their current address. Other volunteers walked out in the fresh air and sunshine with clipboards and "I'm In" cards in hand, talking with the people who were enjoying the park and little league fields that are part of the Rio Bravo Park complex.

Bernie and MaryEllen at South Valley Library for Voter Reg. Day of Action!

The South Valley has a large Spanish-language population and the motto of the day was "Su voto es tu voz" - your vote is your voice." Our Day of Action assured that more voices will be heard but there are still many voices in the South Valley that need to activated. Can you help us help those silent voices to be heard?
