Jonathan: “I want people in my community to realize the magnitude of this election”

Jonathan, a volunteer in New Hampshire

Supporters in Manchester recently came out for a Latinos for Obama block party to get pumped up for all the organizing happening in New Hampshire from now until Election Day. Behind all the action, there was one volunteer who took on a lead role in bringing his community together for the event.

Jonathan is a 21-year-old volunteer who devotes what little spare time he has toward helping organize the Latino community in Manchester:

“The Latino community is such a great network, and I want this party to bring everyone here in Manchester together to have a great time, but also get engaged with the election and commit to vote. [It’s about] getting people to start thinking about their choices and reminding them of the power they have in November to really make a difference.

“I want people in my community to realize the magnitude of this election, to really understand the magnitude of the decision we're making in November. I’m here now because I know the choice we make will impact an entire generation—my generation. This isn’t just about re-electing the President; it’s about securing a brighter future for ourselves. That's why I'm talking to as many people as possible. You know, it’s easy to bury yourself in the day-to-day, but we have a chance to really make a difference and to have a voice."
