Getting Involved in the Political Process

Gordon's Picture

Not to fear, Naperville. Gordon S., the Fall Fellow organizing in your community, is hard at work making phone calls and conducting 1:1s with people in your neighborhood.

From running for president of his 8th grade class to overseeing student government campaigns at his alma mater, the University of Iowa, Gordon has always tried to be involved in the political process. He decided to apply to become a Fall Fellow after attending an Organizing for America day of action this summer.

“I became a Fall Fellow due largely to the people that I met. The other volunteers, amazing Fall Fellows, Community Organizers, and Neighborhood Team Leaders make this job an incredibly rewarding experience.”

Gordon supports President Obama because he believes he possesses a great characteristic: the ability to connect with a diverse audience in a way only few have been capable of achieving in the past. Because Gordon is a recent graduate and looking to go back to school, he also believes President Obama’s views on education are extremely important.

“I believe that there is much that needs to be done to continue to improve education at every level in this country. If President Obama has another four years to advance his policies, educational reform will continue to help students across this country. I hope that new laws and procedures will make higher education a priority for many students who wouldn't otherwise consider it.”

Right now, Gordon is working diligently throughout the rest of the Fall Fellow program to start a great team in the Naperville area.

“I want Naperville to be a city that can support President Obama through a vast network of dedicated volunteers.”

Gordon and other Fall Fellows will be working hard these next few months to continue to build up a grassroots organization across Illinois, and they need your help! Find a local event or sign up to volunteer. Follow their progress on Twitter using the hashtag #FallFellows11.
