On Saturday, June 16th, nearly 200 neighborhood team leaders and Obama volunteers were treated to a preview of the new Obama for America-Illinois state headquarters on the 5th floor of 218 South Wabash.
Illinois State Director, Janelle Rau-Clauson kicked off the day with an ice breaker that grouped volunteers by the decade they got involved in politics and allowed them to share their stories about why they are involved. Volunteers heard from Iowa State Director, Brad Anderson, about how crucial Illinois supporters are to helping persuade undecided voters in Iowa. There was also a team building panel discussion from successful neighborhood teams.
The special reception also featured four-time Grammy- winning artist, Carole King who led the crowd in a chant of “Fired up. Ready to go!”
