Getting the word out: Be covered on the first

Even as winter storms hit parts of the country, OFA volunteers braved the weather Saturday to spread the word about the benefits of the Affordable Care Act. Folks from Georgia to California talked to their neighbors about signing up for health insurance by December 23rd, so they can be covered on January 1st.

San Francisco, California—Volunteers put their training to the test and went to local businesses. They spoke to young people, business owners, and community members about all the benefits of Obamacare.

Portsmouth, New Hampshire—Volunteers in New Hampshire bundled up and headed over to Market Square in downtown Portsmouth. They enjoyed the holiday cheer and spoke to shoppers about getting covered on January 1st.

Madison, Wisconsin—Volunteers, joined by State Representative Melissa Sargent, held a press conference to talk about the benefits of the new law. Sean C. said, “As soon as I went on, I was able to shop for premiums that were literally half the cost of what I had before.”

Albuquerque, New Mexico—Volunteers joined in the fun at the annual Nob Hill Shop and Stroll to hand out Obamacare flyers. They even ran into Santa—and it turns out he had just enrolled!
