Justin in Florida: “For our family”

Dear Mr. President,

First, I am writing you to say thank you for all that you have done for this great country of ours. You're truly an inspiration to us all.

Four years ago, my dad got laid off on a Thursday and I got laid off the next day. As you can imagine, our family was pretty devastated. I remember being more upset that my father lost his job of 30 years than when I lost my own job. I remember crying and saying, "He's an old man, what is he going to do?" Christmas of 2008 came and went, and we realized that even though we were struggling, as long as we had our family, we would be okay.

The day that you were inaugurated, I remember talking with my dad and him saying, "You watch. President Obama's going get us back to work."

Well, Mr. President, four years have gone by, and my dad is back to work. I'm back to work. I bought my first home, and my mom and dad—a Navy veteran and a housewife—will be celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary on October 27th, 2012. So, Mr. President, when someone asks us if we are better off than we were four years ago, I tell them absolutely—thanks to you believing in the American people.

I can imagine in the middle of a re-election after hearing all the negative ads, that you probably want to hear someone say something positive about you. So thank you for fighting for us little people.

You didn't just do amazing things for America—you did amazing things for our family.
