Faces of the campaign: Alejandra Gomez

Name: Alejandra Gomez
Job Title: Central Arizona Regional Field Director
Hometown: Pomona, California
Based in: Phoenix, Arizona

Q1. What does a day at work look like to you?
Every day at work is a new opportunity to get President Obama closer to re-election. My organizers and I work hard to ensure that we are having one-on-one conversations, phone banks, and voter registration events that will bring new people into this movement and expand the electorate here in Arizona. We want to make sure that our community is voting for President Obama, as someone who represents our values.

Q2. How did you first come to the campaign?
I thought I was interviewing for an organizer position and it was actually for a position as regional field director. I was intimidated but super excited to be working for President Obama, who had inspired me since I first heard of him in 2004.

Q3. What’s your favorite part of your job?
Meeting people from all walks of life and diverse backgrounds who are so passionate about re-electing President Obama. Our volunteers step up and take on leadership and responsibilities that they never thought they could—and they excel at it. It’s great knowing that we are all fighting together to re-elect the President so we can keep moving this country forward.

Q4. What’s the most unexpected part of your job?
Having the opportunity to see President Obama speak, and meeting Campaign Manager Jim Messina. Both were amazing and unexpected treats for me and my team.

Q5. Tell us a fun fact about yourself.
The first time I played on a softball team, we won the championships—and I got MVP. That was a fun experience.
