Summer organizer, Caleb S. grew up in Lake St. Louis, but after spending four years at the University of Missouri, Columbia feels like his hometown. As a political Science major Caleb was delighted with the opportunity summer organizing with Obama for America-Missouri offered him.
“The summer organizer program has given me practical experience in politics through interacting and organizing within my community. I’m taking what I learned in the classroom to the streets; having face-to-face conversations with everyday people about politics and this campaign, and how it affects our lives. The valuable insights I’m gaining while helping build grassroots momentum for President Obama’s 2012 campaign, are giving me a new perspective on the political process.”
“Excited and proud” are words Caleb associates with his commitment to President Obama’s 2012 campaign. However, that was never so true as during the summer organizer conference call with the President.
“At that moment, I knew I was really part of his campaign. Although there were a lot of us on the call, it was personal, and the appeal for help with his re-election was personal.”
