While we are sad to say goodbye to our 2012 summer fellows, we are looking forward to meeting the new class of 2012 fall fellows.
This summer our fellows had some amazing experiences including registering voters in the Florida Panhandle, training new volunteers in Alabama, and even working an event with First Lady Michelle Obama. Several moved on to staff positions with our campaign in battleground states.
We are accepting applications from campuses and within communities statewide. We are interviewing the best and the brightest applicants right now and will select our fall fellows in the next couple of weeks.
Our group will be as diverse as the constituents for whom they are working. In addition to students, who can receive college credit for their work with the program, we will be using this fall to empower and train volunteers—students, retirees, Alabamians and Floridians—to re-elect President Obama in November. The fall fellows will spend 12 weeks engaging voters through phone calls and knocking on doors, holding one-on-one meetings with supporters, and getting on-the-ground lessons in grassroots organizing.
Fall fellows’ training sessions will be held in Birmingham at the OFA Headquarters in September. Fellows will have the opportunity to relate the President’s achievements to their own lives while getting to know each other at the same time.
If you would like to become part of the OFA-Alabama family, contact State Director Leanne Townsend at [email protected] for more information or apply online for an 2012 Obama Fall Organizing Fellowship.
Training materials, official manuals, name tags, and more are ready for you. You will have the time of your life!
