A Place to Call Home

Right off the Rappahannock River, almost 200 supporters joined us at the grand opening of the regional campaign field office in historic Fredericksburg.

“I am heartened, but definitely not surprised by the amazing turnout today,” Dersha Patel, regional field director said of the event. “We have incredibly enthusiastic supporters and volunteers, and they are ready to organize to support President Obama.”

Supporters in the area have been organizing hard, hosting phone banks and voter registration drives in their neighborhoods. This office opening couldn’t have come at a better time for these organizers, as the packed office opening showed.

Of the many supporters, few expressed more excitement than Pam, a Fredericksburg area resident.

“This a place to call home,” Pam said, “and now that we have this huge functional space, we’ll be able to host more phone banks, team meetings, etc. to reach out to our neighbors to win four more years for our guy, Barack Obama.“

By the end of the celebration, dozens of volunteers have signed up for this weekend’s Day of Action. You can join them, too. Sign up for a Day of Action event near you.

Thanks to former Democratic National Committee Chairman Terry McAuliffe for joining us on this great day in Fredericksburg.
